This is a community site dedicated to serving all Beta Gershom (Descendants of Jewish Intermarriage).
Our mission is to enable you to express and uphold your Jewishness, either as a Jew (if that is how you self-identify) or as a non-Jew (if that is how you self-identify). As such, this site is commited to core Jewish values, such as the sanctity of the Torah and the Sinai and Noachide covenants, Tikun Olam (repair the world), and enabling Israel to be a Light to the Nations (a task we are uniquely positioned for, given our multiple backgrounds!).
Precisely because the different Jewish denominations disagree with respect to when the Torah considers a Descendant of Jewish Intermarriage as Jewish, we believe that YOU ultimately must internalize what the Torah is saying in this regard. Therefore, with respect to Jewish status, we always honor YOUR self-identification, and we encourage you to express how you see yourself. If you don't know at this time, that's OK too !!
It is also our belief that us Beta Gershom are uniquely positioned to bring the blessing of Judaism's ethical monotheism to the nations where we inhabit.
Last but not least, we also want celebrate our non-Jewish backgrounds. Witness the richness that Judaism has incorporated from other cultures thru 2400 of Jewish Dispersion! (Spanish culture for the Sephardim, Eastern European Yiddishkeit and Klezmer music, Ethiopian traditions of the Falasha Jews, even ancient Assyrian heritage of the Samaritan Jews!!, etc etc).
With these things in mind, we open the door to our new community site. Here you can:
- create your own blogs and express how you identify and your views on any relevant subject.
- view and participate in our forums
- even create or request specific forums for topics that are important to you!
- upload photos, audios, videos, and documents that you think are of interest to the community. You can also rate documents and media that you see!
